SOURCING CHECKLIST

Details to include with your RFQ

Keep the requirements on the same enquiry. Mark unknown details for confirmation.

  1. 01

    Full configuration

Manufacturer and complete part number, contact arrangement, pole and throw configuration, and latching or momentary operation as applicable.

  2. 02

    Operating requirements

Coil or operating voltage, load type, switching current and voltage. Specify AC or DC and any relevant inrush or inductive load conditions.

  3. 03

    Mechanical details

Package drawing, footprint, actuator dimensions, mounting method and terminal arrangement. Include required accessories.

  4. 04

    Application constraints

Operating temperature, environmental exposure and any required approvals or standards. Ask for evidence tied to the exact part number.

  5. 05

    For protection devices

Record the exact fuse, breaker or protection code and the application requirements, including voltage, interrupting rating and response characteristics where applicable.

ENGINEERING REVIEW

Keep the original requirement visible

A similar outline or nominal current does not make a relay, switch or protection device interchangeable. Contact behaviour, load rating, protection characteristics and required approvals need engineering review.

List a proposed alternative separately with its full code and approval status. Confirm the part, quantity, condition, documentation and delivery assumptions before purchasing.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Before you enquire

Can a relay with another coil voltage be used?

Treat it as a design change. The drive circuit and operating characteristics must be reviewed by engineering before any revised ordering code is approved.

Should required approvals be included in the enquiry?

Yes. Identify the standard or approval and the exact application requirement, then verify manufacturer documentation for the proposed part rather than assuming a whole series is covered.
