COMPONENT SOURCING / IC
Integrated circuits
For an IC enquiry, a family name is only the beginning. The full manufacturer ordering code identifies the device variant you need to discuss, while your application requirements explain which differences can matter.

SOURCING CHECKLIST
Details to include with your RFQ
Keep the requirements on the same enquiry. Mark unknown details for confirmation.
- 01
Exact identification
Manufacturer, complete orderable part number and the approved BOM revision. Preserve every prefix, suffix, hyphen and packing code.
- 02
Package and assembly
Package drawing, pin count, footprint and required carrier format. Note any moisture handling or assembly constraints specified by your manufacturing team.
- 03
Operating requirements
Supply range, temperature grade and the parameters critical to your design. For memory and controllers, include capacity, interface and any approved revision requirements.
- 04
Quantity and timing
Required units, minimum acceptable quantity, split delivery options and the date material is needed at your delivery location.
- 05
Documentation
State the origin, traceability, date-code and inspection evidence your purchase requires. Ask what is available before accepting an offer.
ENGINEERING REVIEW
Keep the original requirement visible
A matching function or pin count does not establish a drop-in replacement. Package, pin assignment, electrical behaviour, firmware and qualification requirements need engineering review.
List a proposed alternative separately with its full code and approval status. Confirm the part, quantity, condition, documentation and delivery assumptions before purchasing.

Before you enquire
Can I enquire with only a marking from the package?
Yes, but mark the identification as unconfirmed. Include clear photographs, package dimensions and the original equipment context. A top marking may differ from the full ordering code.
Should reel and tray variants share a BOM line?
Keep the requested ordering code intact. If your assembly team accepts another carrier, list it separately with its full code and indicate the approval status.
